1            Rules

1.1         The regatta will be governed by

(a)             The ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2001-2004, except as changed by these sailing instructions;

(b)             The prescriptions of the Australian Yachting Federation (AYF);

(c)              The Championship Rules of the TCAA and Taipan Class Rules;

(d)             These Sailing Instructions (S.I.), Including changes made in compliance with instructions 3 and 4.

1.2         Entrants in the regatta shall comply with the ISAF Eligibility Rules as provided in Appendix 2.

1.3         Boats that display advertising shall comply with Category C in accordance with RRS Appendix 1, 20.3.1.

 

2             Changes to Sailing Instructions

·        Any change to the Sailing Instructions will verbally communicated at the competitors briefing prior to the start of sailing

 

3             Schedule of Races

·        21th September 2024

·        Competitors meeting 12.30pm

·        Racing not before 1pm

·        Back to back starts

·        Final start not after 4.30pm

 

4             Racing Areas

·        The waters directly adjacent to the Mannering Park Sailing Clubhouse

 

5             The Courses

·        The Course will be windward/leeward with a distance of between 400m and 900m between the top and bottom gates.

·        1 or 2 laps at the race officers direction.

·        Will be designated at the briefing prior to racing.

 

6             Marks

·        Will be advised at pre-race competitors meeting.

 

7             Drop Races

·      All races to count

·      A minimum of 3 races constitutes a series.

 

8             Points

·          1 point for first, 2 points for second etc

·          DNF and DNS are fleet +1

·          Lowest points score at the end of racing wins

 

9             The Start

·        Between the start boat (race committee vessel) and a nominated mark

 

10          The Finish

·        Between the finish boat (race committee vessel) and a nominated mark

 

11          Penalty System

·        360 degree turn

·        There is no provision for protests in this event.

·        There may be a jury boat used throughout racing, this will be detailed at the competitors meeting.

 

12          Safety Regulations

·        Competitors attention is drawn to fundamental RRS 1 and 4. Competitors shall make their own decision to start or proceed in a race, taking into consideration the prevailing conditions at the time.
